Birmingham International Forest Logistics (BIFL) is looking for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a challenging and rewarding environment. The role will undergo extensive training under top Logistics Brokers to ensure they are well equipped to succeed as a Broker themselves. Our Logistics Broker Internship aims to build relationships and serve our partners by providing them with the information needed to bring the most valuable and important information to our partners.

Duties and Responsibilities as Logistics Broker Intern:
• Daily shadowing of top Logistics Brokers
• Serve as a liaison between our customers and freight carriers and possess the ability to maintain relationships
• Writing up orders in our internal system
• Conducting daily check-ins with carriers
• Ensuring all steps for setting up new customers have been completed
• Call on customers to negotiate sales.
• Input orders and follow through with shipment to ensure timely delivery.
• Call on suppliers to determine pricing strategies and orders.
• Prospect new customers by working with department leaders.
• Plan and budget sales goals and measure results.
• Resolve customer, trucking and/or company disputes promptly and professionally.
• Interact with other brokers in the department to keep each other informed of changing market conditions and to provide customers a variety of products to be purchased as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Able to maintain a positive attitude with willingness to learn and be trained on BIFL practices.
• Must have a high level of attention to detail and work well with others.
• Must possess a desire to succeed.
• Possess an interest and ability to understand the transportation industry, logistics functions, and customer requirements.
• Experience using Microsoft Office is preferred.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma is required along with being currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college or university
- Experience in competitive sports or other highly competitive roles is considered an asset
